Yesterday, I was flipping through the channels and saw an episode of Mr. Bean wherein he was struggling to sleep. He tried doing a lot of things to send himself to dreamland. It was a funny way of portraying sleep problems. I admit that sometimes I have a problem sleeping at night. There are a lot of factors that cause these things. Insomnia is not an easy thing to deal with. Many people suffer from it and it sure brings out a lot of health issues.
The common cause of insomia is psychoactive drugs or stimulants like caffeine. They keep you up and active thus making sleeping difficult. Hormone shifts in wmen who are nearing menopausal or having a mentruation. Stress, fear and anxiety also contribute. Disturbances on the circadian rhythm like jet lag and shifting working schedules tend to disrupt the normal body clock. Mental disorders and medical conditions also cause insomia to develop. People often turn to sleep inducing pills and other sedatives to help them relax and eventually fall asleep.
Sleep is an important aspect in the body’s relaxation and renewal process. Thus it is advisable to have at least eight hours of sleep so as to avoid being cranky. Trust me, lack of sleep makes you look like crap.
